Healthcare Environmental Practices
Practice Greenhealth collects data from its member hospitals on environmental program implementation, waste reduction, energy efficiency, green team development, recycling practices, and more. We currently have available the 2009 Awards Metrics Report and a supplement containing information from a 2008 Member Survey.
If you are looking for specific information not included in these reports, please contact Lara Sutherland at 866-598-2210. We may have the information elsewhere, or we may need your help to ensure we ask the right questions on our next survey or award application to obtain the information you need.
- Environmental Excellence Awards Benchmark Report – This report summarizes environmental sustainability activity and material/waste data provided by Practice Greenhealth’s sixty 2009 Partner for Change Award winners. This report was created due to requests from hospitals and business members for benchmark information regarding waste generation, recycling, and other activities at our member facilities. This report includes details regarding specific activities such as energy efficiency, green team development, and specific program implementation.
- Supplemental Report on Environmental Practices – As a supplement to the 2009 Awards Metrics Report, Practice Greenhealth makes available to its members data from a November 2008 Practice Greenhealth Hospital Member Survey. Certain data from the 2009 Award Applicants are included in the supplement if they were not included in the Awards Benchmark Report (above) or if the data are useful to compare with data from the Survey. The supplement contains specific information about environmentally preferable products and environmental labels used by hospitals, chemicals and materials hospitals are targeting for reduction in the products they buy, water efficiency practices, and energy efficiency practices.
