Training for Sustainability Professionals

Learn how to manage sustainability in healthcare from a team of experts. Practice Greenhealth is now offering a comprehensive introductory training class for sustainability professionals in the health field. We have put together a two-day curriculum that draws on the experience of leading practitioners of sustainability in healthcare, and allows you to learn from them directly.

These two-day classes will utilize lectures, case studies and hands-on team-oriented exercises to provide guidance, education and resources for managing the many aspects of a complete sustainability program. Students will learn material in the areas of green building, sustainable operations and environmentally preferable purchasing. Topics discussed will include the benefits of a sustainability program; establishing an infrastructure; putting together a “green team;” gaining senior level support; overcoming obstacles; data gathering, measurements, and assessments; setting goals; internal and external education; and obtaining publicity. Students will leave with a complete study guide and resource kit.

Each session will be taught by a team of expert staff from Practice Greenhealth and our Steering Committee:

Kai Abelkis, Boulder Community Hospital
Christine Vernon Ayers, Cleveland Clinic
Tom Badrick, Legacy Health System
John Ebers, Metro Health Hospital
Michael Geller, Providence Health & Services, Portland

Who should attend: Anyone who wants to become a sustainability leader in their organization.
